Cream Puff

2017-06-20T03:14:26Z

67.87.198.25: /* Author Notes */

Cream Puff is a story written by TK Hoshikuzu. It ran in Issue 67 at http://www.shousetsubangbang.com/mirror/cream-puff/.

Summary
Everything can be solved with sweets and alcohol.

Author Notes
Contemporary slice-of-life genre stories are my favorite to write and read. I know that kind of story can be boring, but this was challenging for me because it's not really happy. Joey is a character I've wanted to write about for a really, really long time, so I'm glad that I was finally able to produce something semi-polished. I'd like to keep going, though maybe not through SSBB. Also, I'm not sure it was clear, but I hope the readers can guess how these two will end up.

Finally, I tried making those chocolate cream puffs with rum cream. Two of the eggs had two yolks in it, which made the pastry eggy, and I was overzealous with the rum, but it was yummy and feasible! I'm not much of a baker though.

What You Deserve

2017-03-20T14:37:47Z

67.87.198.25: /* Author Notes */

What You Deserve is a story written by TK Hoshikuzu. It ran in Special Issue 12 at http://s2b2.livejournal.com/, and will be mirrored at http://www.shousetsubangbang.com/mirror/.

Summary
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die." - the final monologue

Author Notes
My first F/F story. I'm afraid I may have put too many layers for a short story.

All lyrics from songs in Arcade Fire’s Reflektor.

Lessons in Lunar Etiquette

Lessons in Lunar Etiquette is a story written by TK Hoshikuzu. It ran in Issue 65 at http://s2b2.livejournal.com/348630.html, and is mirrored at http://www.shousetsubangbang.com/mirror/lessons-in-lunar-etiquette/.

Summary
Communication problems galore.

Author Notes
This is actually a slashed version of a short story that I read as a kid. The original was titled, "The Moon Maiden" from Shen of the Sea, a compilation of Chinese folktales and published in 1926. After finding the book again and doing a little research, it turns out the stories are 'Chinese-themed' and the author was an American dude who I'm pretty sure has never been to China. In any case, the story has stayed with me for a long time, because I'm a sucker for tragic but still happy romance stories.

And if anyone is wondering how they manage to have children, I imagine that Jun convinced Yueye to temporarily leave the moon and they scoop up and raise all the orphan children they can manage. Then maybe by rediscovering ancient technology from Yueye's people or by making another deal with the demonness, they get back. Or maybe they found no need to return and reclaimed Yueye's kingdom on Earth. Nevertheless, they live happily ever after.
