== Summary ==
A two-part science-fiction story; Kunday is an alien "life-guard" who guards the shore, keeps the sirens from getting beached, and makes sure the warriors who visit don't try their luck against the ocean's waves.

<blockquote> "Kunday had finally had enough of his beach-crawling. His hide was covered with rock-bruises, he was bored beyond understanding, and his strained air-lungs made his chest tighter then it should have been. He had picked the wrong duty-station yet again." </blockquote>

== Connections ==

"Doing What They Do" shares the same Stars Universe as Kouchou's previous stories.

== Author's Notes ==

I had a good chunk of this story written before I knew about this issue, but I ended up scrapping most of it so that this story could come out as polished as it is. I'm still rather pleased with it, and I like how I was able to shed some light on another species, on the Maa'rish species, and about another location in the Stars universe.

I don't have much to say about this one though. The Pond'iques have changed a bit since I wrote this story, but not by much. I think I've mucked with their respiratory system a bit, I'm not sure. There is a sequel to this story, but its still in pieces and lacks any real focus. Much like how the first draft of this story began, so maybe I should retool it a bit. If you look on my art pages, you may find some renderings of what their species looks like.

I'd like to thank again my beta-reader(s) who helped me shape this into what you see today, the lovely individuals who make SSB*B possible, and you who read this. You all are awesome and I appreciate every comment, pageview, and "like" you leave.

== Summary ==

A science-fiction story about Alizarin, who is an alien prisoner that is trapped aboard a sex-slaver's ship.

<blockquote>"The charge-chuffs chafed Alizarin's wrists. The scales beneath the cold metal bands were cracked and breaking. He stopped struggling a few days ago, after a Thrihar had jabbed electric prods against his back. If he had been anything less then a Sirocco, the electrical current would have seriously hurt him."</blockquote>

== Connections ==

"No One Left Behind" shares the same Stars Universe as Kouchou's other works.

== Author's Notes ==

While this is my second SSB*B story, this one technically predates "Pale, Bright, and Shining" by quite a few months. I had the bare bones of this story hiding in my hard drive, but I had no idea what Alizarin looked like, what his species was, or any of the details of his capture. So I let the story languish for a bit, moved on to other projects, then bam! Once I had a setting going, I scraped this story up and went to town on it.

Like "Pale, Bright, and Shining," this story is kinda showing its age here and there. There are some details that have been worked out of the setting at large, some species quirks that have been retooled, and some of the science doesn't quite jive anymore. I still like it, but I'm rather partial to Python's crew. I have a few stories that followed after this one, but none of them were ever finished enough to share anywhere.

== Artist's Notes ==

I almost didn't send the picture in, until I worried that people would be confused by Alizarin's description. You can find a colored version of the picture [http://fav.me/d2dv4tg here.]

== Summary ==

== Connections ==
Although not directly connected to his other stories, "No One Left Behind" does share the same universe with them.
== Author's Notes ==

I'd like to thank again my beta-reader(s) who helped me shape this into what you see today, the lovely individuals who make SSB*B possible, and you who read this. You all are awesome and I appreciate every comment, pageview, and "like" you leave.

A two-part science-fiction story about a young alien warrior, the passing of a king, and three mysterious beings known as Tryptychs.

<blockquote>"On the Twenty-third day of the Var'nik, during the year of the Red Moon Descending, the august Lord-General died in his sleep. His triptychs were euthanized and his favored lovers transported to their permanent estate on Satvit Two.
== Author's Notes ==

This was the first SSB*B story I'd ever written, and I'm afraid it shows. This story is technically what created the Stars Universe that I've written so much about.

I remember laying in bed, coming up with the idea for the Tryptychs before anything else. I focused on the idea of a mask, then tried to envision an electronic mask that could display the expression and emotion if its wearer while keeping their faces covered. I went on to imagine what kind of being would need it, what they would use the masks for, and so on. The final touch - the physical aspect of the Tryptychs themselves - was mostly inspired by my love of bara. I do love me some muscular men-type things lol.

The Maa'rish came shortly after, though I don't recall how or how quickly that was. I do recall wanting to turn the mpreg idea on its side, and create a species that was incapable of reproducing with themselves. I thought long and hard about this, and continue to shape the nuances of that idea today. Much like the Tryptychs, the Maa'rish's physical shape was influenced by my preference for tall, dark, and tiger-striped. I think you all might be noticing a theme here, so I won't go into any further details.

I have changed certain aspects of both species since this story was created, but the basic physical descriptions are still the same. The Tryptychs are still just as tall now as I wrote them here, Dammy is still the wonderful being now as he was here, and Mathai is still spinning ever onward in my brain. I have attempted to update this particular story up a bit, but that attempt is far from being ready to show.

== Summary ==

"Doing What They Do" shares the same Stars Universe as Kouchou's previous stories.

== Author's Notes ==

== Summary ==
A science-fiction story; Ashiid is forced to participate in an ancient ritual that does nothing but make his scales chafe in the desert heat.

<blockquote>Only when the sun was at it's highest was the haa'sith of the Light allowed to travel through the temple grounds to bathe. It was the only chance Ashiid had to clean his pale scales of the temple's cloying incense. It was also the only designated place where he could be away from the priests, the citizens and the other ''haa'sith''.</blockquote>

== Author's Notes ==

This is story number three I wrote for SSB*B. I'm pretty sure I had other stories I was working on at the time. Its kinda been a while, and I wrote this one so fast, that I can't remember much about it. I remember this story kinda wrote itself. I remember reading the setting prompts and thinking, "Number 18 sounds really pretty! What can I do with that?"

I know that it has one of the few Ateimei characters (Ashiid) in it, that it helped me craft some of their culture, and to establish what the tension was between them and the Maa'rish. I'm still working on their culture so that they don't come across as a poor analogue for the Middle East and the tensions going on at the time I was writing this story. All in all, I remember liking writing this story and about having a prompt for the setting. I don't think this one shows as much age as the previous two, but it's not as polished as "Doing What They Do" is.

== Summary ==

== Connections ==

"Set in Stone" is set in the same Stars Universe as Kouchou's other stories, but is not directly connected to them.

== Author's Notes ==

I'd like to thank again my beta-reader(s) who helped me shape this into what you see today, the lovely individuals who make SSB*B possible, and you who read this. You all are awesome and I appreciate every comment, pageview, and "like" you leave.

== Summary ==

The planet mourned his passing with great celebration."</blockquote>

== Connections ==

While "Pale, Bright, and Shining" isn't directly connected to Kouchou's other stories, it does share the same universe.

== Author's Notes ==

I'd like to thank again my beta-reader(s) who helped me shape this into what you see today, the lovely individuals who make SSB*B possible, and you who read this. You all are awesome and I appreciate every comment, pageview, and "like" you leave.

== Summary ==

== Author's Notes ==
