Author's Notes
<BLOCKQUOTE>Every time I start writing a historically-based story for ss*bb, I tell myself I will not get dragged into disproportionate amounts of research, and every time, I am wrong. Having said that, this story was inspired by a historical figure I already knew a fair bit about: Adrienne is a fictionalized version of the Chevalier D'Eon, an 18th-century spy, soldier, and ambassador who lived the second half of her life as a woman. Gabrielle is fictional, but her life circumstances were inspired by those of Dido Elizabeth Belle, who I knew of entirely because of the 2013 film <i>Belle</i>. The Chevalier de Saint-Georges was a completely real and amazing duellist, musician, and composer. I have no idea how well he actually knew the Chevalier D'Eon, but they fought a duel one time! After she started dressing publicly as a woman! History is amazing.<br><br> Thanks so much to Spacetart, my beta. </blockquote>
<BLOCKQUOTE>A woman walked between the trees, dark-skinned and wrapped in airy blue cloth. It was a little hard to judge from this angle, but she looked extraordinarily tall — as tall as a man — with long arms and strong legs. Her hair was cut slave-short, but both her wrists and ankles were looped with gold. Her anklets had bells on them. Hannah could just make out a sparkle of their ring as the woman walked past them and ventured into where the man-made forest grew thicker.</BLOCKQUOTE>
Aaron "Wex" Wechsler is finally back together with his first (and only) boyfriend, Johnny, after more than twenty years apart. Now they just have to survive his sister's wedding (and his mother).

Connections
'The Happy Knot You Tie' was originally conceived as a sequel to another story about Wex and Johnny, set during their teenage years, called 'Our Last Summer'. However, it ended up being completed first.

'Our Last Summer' began life as thinly veiled GOB Bluth/Tony Wonder 'Arrested Development' fanfiction. While the characters of Wex and Johnny have developed since then, this influence can still be seen.

The author also took inspiration from 'Transparent', particularly the episode 'Kina Hora'.

The title is from a 1620 play 'The Heir' by Thomas May, an early usage of the idiom "to tie the knot".
A large number of characters were dumped on our heads right in the first scene, and I won’t admit the depths of my confusions over them here. I will say that they didn’t matter all that much, and after shrugging the whole passel of them off with the summary line above, my enjoyment of the story increased immensely, and I really loved it. == Summary ==
Dylan's not particularly happy with his habit of lightning-quick flings, but he thinks he has a good reason why he has to stick to it. Can he work out a way to find a more meaningful connection, in spite of the unique obstacle in his way?

From fairyninjas.wordpress.com: "Another selkie who does one-night stands, but this one far less content with his lot in life (at least according to his friends), and how he finds his own way out of that situation."

Connections
This story isn't connected to anything else yet, though the author is quite likely to write more in this world.
The hoodie comment at the end is an oblique reference to this (spoiler!), though no other connections between the two stories should be assumed.

Spoiler: <span style="background-color: #EEE; color: #EEE">This story came from the author's long-standing desire to write a selkie story that ends hopefully, rather than tragically</span>
Summary
From http://strannik01.livejournal.com/166540.html: "a world-weary sorceress meets a dragon who arrives with a very peculiar proposition."

From fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org: "Mayrat, a witch both respected and feared, is visited by a dragon who can turn into a girl. The dragon offers a bargain that will bring them treasure and power; Mayrat agrees."
<BLOCKQUOTE>In her ninety-fifth summer, Mayrat af-Qash met the dragon.</BLOCKQUOTE>

Connections
The Red Woman is a fairly direct prequel to The White Palace, and takes place several thousand years before the events of the latter.

Much, much more tenuously, The Red Woman takes place in the same universe as Bright Mouths, though several thousand more years have passed between the two.

Author's Notes
<BLOCKQUOTE>Way back when I was writing The White Palace, I became very fond of two characters that weren't even in the story at all: Abias ar-Dal, Fard's immediate predecessor, and Mayrat af-Qash, the woman who'd first held the job. Fard learns to deal with his circumstances largely with the help of the legacies they left him, and so to think about those legacies, I also had to think about who they'd both been.<br><br>So when this SSBB theme came up and I was searching for ideas about what to write, I came back to the story Mim tells Fard and Nonna at the start of the third part: the very fairy-tale-ized version of history, come down through three thousand years of speculation, about Mayrat and the dragon. It had fire, it had earth, and it even had a little wind -- perfect. And it had two ladies, because I'd been clear to specify that the dragon in question was a lady dragon, <i>and</i> it operated in a world where I'd already established that dragons could, under some circumstances, look like people.<br><br>Of course, I then took on this challenge while still trying to move into a new house <i>and</i> work on my dissertation, and then it became 23,000 words long, because I am an idiot.<br><br>At any rate: If you've read The White Palace before, I don't know if you recognized any names, but many of the circumstances and universe mechanics may have seemed familiar to you. If you <i>haven't</i>, then I'm slightly sorry I spoiled a fairly late-story reveal for you, even though it's one you can definitely put together on your own beforehand. And maybe you should go read it, because I'm still proud of it.<br><br><br>Also, all the art credit and thrown bouquets go to eluneth for the lovely art she did here, with an extra helping of thank-you for how when I originally hit her up for the project, I told her outright I had no idea what I was going to write, but would she draw for it anyway? She gave me a blind assurance that she would, and as luck would have it, I wrote something that played into many of her stylistic strengths. Such gorgeousness!

<blockquote>It was such a rotten cliche, to be smitten with the cute boy behind the counter at the coffee shop, but, well, cliches had to start somewhere. At least in Adam's defense, he had only been caught in deep smit for the three minutes he'd been waiting in line. The boy in question had soft eyes and long lashes and a scruffy chin and smirky lips and Adam was just fine with waiting as long as possible while he got practice at staring while pretending not to stare.
<BR>
When it was Adam's time to come up to the counter, though, he saw the barista's nametag read 'Smug.' Well, at least he was properly labeled.</blockquote>
Author Notes
This is actually a slashed version of a short story that I read as a kid. The original was titled, "The Moon Maiden" from Shen of the Sea, a compilation of Chinese folktales and published in 1926. After finding the book again and doing a little research, it turns out the stories are 'Chinese-themed' and the author was an American dude who I'm pretty sure has never been to China. In any case, the story has stayed with me for a long time, because I'm a sucker for tragic but still happy romance stories.

And if anyone is wondering how they manage to have children, I imagine that Jun convinced Yueye to temporarily leave the moon and they scoop up and raise all the orphan children they can manage. Then maybe by rediscovering ancient technology from Yueye's people or by making another deal with the demonness, they get back. Or maybe they found no need to return and reclaimed Yueye's kingdom on Earth. Nevertheless, they live happily ever after.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show ran Friday and Saturday nights at Toronto's Roxy Theatre (on Danforth at Greenwood) from May 7, 1975 to May 7, 1983, including midnight showings. The theatre operated for many more years, but eventually closed. Most of it was demolished, but the box office and facade were preserved as part of what is now a (of course) Tim Horton's and convenience store. The name over the marquee is the Allenby, the theatre's original name. For my story I preserved it as a theatre.

The full line the title is taken from is, "In just seven days I can make you a man." The section titles are audience call-outs; there are a few scripts out there on the internet. The epilogue title comes from a song in the show.

As well as being in seven parts (plus epilogue) to match the title, this story was also my attempt to write to romance beats.

When Iggy finds out Dr. Mary Rupert is attempting to continue the research that ruined Iggy's life, she's determined to stop Mary. But talking to Mary leads to more introspection than Iggy ever planned on doing.

Author's Notes
This story started out as a self-indulgent attempt at writing messy and unpleasant, but brilliant women*, since I normally only see white dudes getting the honor and still being treated as sympathetic. Granted, woman isn't exactly the best word to describe Iggy. She's more agender than anything else, but introspection isn't exactly her strong suit, so she hasn't had time to explore her gender or what that means to her. Messy, though, still very much describes poor Iggy and I hope ya'll have as much fun reading about that as I had writing it.
Sparks fly.<BR><BR>Freddie and Robin's relationship loosely parallels that of the main characters in Pirates of Penzance, which is of course the operatta they're producing. This has a fun story-within-a-story as Freddie and Robin's relationship kind of echoes their production of Pirates of Penzance and their overhaul of the company, out of the shadows of their respective fathers. == Summary ==
Nicola takes her girlfriend Girril out for a nice dinner, and she makes it a memorable night by wearing a very special outfit under her presentable outer layer. It turns out that public sex looks very different when you're a human dating an alien.

From http://fairyninjas.wordpress.com/2015/07/21/circus-maximus-ssbb-yes-and-3/: "An intriguing snapshot of an inter-species relationship with one human, and one alien of a sort that’s really turned on just by colors."

Author's Notes
The original inspiration for this story was a throwaway mention of an alien who was sexually aroused by visual stimuli, specifically bright colors, in an unfinished Torchwood fanfic I read in 2005. Even though this was just a one-sentence reference that wasn't explored further, I was intrigued by the idea and have had it tucked in the back of my mind for a decade now; when I mentioned it on a panel about alien genitals & sex at Wiscon 2015 it rocketed back to the forefront again. I've always been frustrated that the author didn't expand on this concept and eventually I realized that if I want more weird alien smut in the world, the best thing to do is to make my own. The original concept for this story involved Nicola and Girril first getting together and would have included a lot more cultural notes as the reader learned them through Nicola's POV. While that quickly proved to be an uninspired plot, it meant I brainstormed a lot of detail that didn't make it into the final story.

Cuttlefish were the major inspiration for Girril's coloration, although I gave the Ri a larger range of color and patterning options. They aren't otherwise directly related to any aquatic animal. The color response to sexual stimuli and other forms of excitement is an automatic reflex much of the time, but with concentration one can learn to control that reaction somewhat, similarly to how most people can learn greater control over their breathing with practice. There are also chemical methods to induce brighter coloration or deeper contrast; those might be used by romantic leads in movies or hawked on late night infomercials promising to bring that old radiance back to one's relationship.

When two (or more) Ri are in a sexual relationship, they rely more heavily on the feedback loop of seeing a partner's high-contrast arousal patterns and being aroused in turn than on colors and contrast in clothing. There are certainly lingerie stores that feature fashions reminiscent of an explosion in a Lisa Frank factory, but it's a bit of a niche market for people in Ri-only relationships; most of the customers are people in mixed-species relationships trying to find ways to entice a Ri partner. Ri are used to activating optical implants that filter visual stimuli down to a manageable level in mixed company, but as is briefly mentioned in the story, it's considered rude to force filtering in a one-on-one or small group setting as minor visual cues can be harder to make out with filters activated. So while a human in bright party clothes at a dance club with Ri patrons isn't being inappropriate at all, they'd raise some eyebrows wearing those same clothes to board game night at a Ri friend's house.

Ambient bright or high-contract colors aren't generally arousing on their own; if Girril sees a brightly-colored abstract painting in an art gallery, she's not going to have an arousal response, and the Ri district isn't entirely monochromatic. This can vary from person to person, though, and if an image is intense enough it might have sexual or sensual associations, although it is unlikely to be considered obscene on its own. For sexually inexperienced or younger Ri, something as intense as a Magic Eye image would probably be passed around like an old Playboy.

Author's Notes
I started this story some three years ago, for the Out of This World issue. I have no idea why I didn't finish it in time (cursory knowledge of the timeline of my life suggests: I was still suffering the Grief Depressions and having trouble finishing things) but I know why I kept on not finishing it.

The characters in this story started out as name-swaps of my more "established" OCs (idk why I bother to name-swap them, apart from "it bothers my continuity brain", since like three people are aware of/care about the OCs; I did the same thing with The Prince's Plaything shh) but within the year of starting it, I realized one of the characters was trans, and writing about them as if they were a cis dude, when that was the least accurate possible representation of them, made me feel weird, even if they were name-swapped and theoretically distinct.

(I mean also, I stopped in the middle of a sex scene, and it is always harder to pick up from a sex scene than from a non-sex scene for me.)

Then I more carefully read the signup post for this year's December issue and Yes, And content was allowed! I thought about this for around two days, like, gosh it's a shame I don't have anything near completion that would work! And then I realized one night, walking home from the opera (which, god willing, will be gay-ed into a SSBB at some future point. I have an outline and everything.), that I could take this story, mostly-finished, rewrite a few things and do a find and replace of the pronouns for Colby, and that would work fine. I went home and immediately finished the story.

So thank you to the editors, and thank you to science fiction for always having my back wrt neopronouns being acceptable.

I usually use "they" pronouns for the character Colby is "based on", but I thought that might be extra confusing in porn, and decided science fiction generally made a welcome home for neopronoun use. For those interested, Colby might describe cer gender as "none binary with left girl" ...assuming 2010s-era tumblr memes were something ce was familiar with.

Anyway the station Colby lives on is not Deep Space Nine, as it is not that biologically diverse, but DS9 sure is the only space station centric sci-fi I had consumed when I started writing it, so in my head, it uses the same sets, dressed slightly differently. Pay no attention to the raktajino mugs behind the bartender.

As always, I have a lot of backstory (and future sexual adventures) in my head for this story/these characters. For instance, a whoooole lot of zhenega biology and cultural stuff that isn't especially pertinent to this story. It may be of interest that this story would have been nearly identical to its current form if Lee was a cis female zhenega, save for pronouns and the color of his spots.

It may also be somewhat interesting to note that zhenegas in general find the idea of penetrative sex taboo bordering on disgusting, and somewhat transitively tend to think of humans as one of the grosser alien species. Lee, you may not be surprised to learn, is considered fairly kinky by the standards of most zhenega cultures. I figure, probably most people engaging in interspecies relationships are. Or, maybe not those in relationships, but those willing to have casual sex with another species. I mean, sometimes you fall in love with your colleague, and they happen to be an alien. It's a different kind of person who moves to an alien station and immediately starts hitting up the clubs.

Finally, I previously referred to zhenegas in How to Get Into the Krixin Resort, except, for some reason, I called them "shenarr". I have no idea why I did this (thanks, memory problems), but the Watsonian explanation is obviously language change/difference.
A most considerate alien abduction.
From https://fairyninjas.wordpress.com/2015/08/27/ssbb-56-out-of-this-world/: "A trucker is accosted on the highway by two men in silver paint, maybe. He is taken to their spaceship for some anal probing, of course. And then there’s the armadillo…"

From http://harmless-one.livejournal.com/39472.html: "about a hick truck driver who meets a couple aliens and gets abducted. Then, true to form, the aliens get about the business of anal probing. A concise, porny tale. Kink for all!"

Slime After Slime is a story written and illustrated by Iron Eater. It ran in Issue 73 at http://www.shousetsubangbang.com/mirror/slime-after-slime/

Summary
An aging hero on the edge of retirement reunites with an old friend, though quite a lot has changed since they last saw each other.

<blockquote>Once the ointment kicked in and the pain wasn't quite a knife prying at his patella, Lyón ran through the details he'd been collecting in his head until he felt he'd properly solved the little mystery Guerry had unknowingly set before him. It was time to make his next move. "You don't have to hold it in anymore if you don't want to," he said.

Guerry paused mid-winding. "Hold what in?"

"Oh, you know." Lyón wiggled his hands in a <i>ta-da!</i> gesture. "<i>Galu! Lulu!</i> You used to pepper your speech with those sounds all the time, so much I almost didn't recognize you without 'em. Should've known you'd be the one to fix me up again after all this time, Guérisseau." He smiled as genuinely as he was able. "I'm glad you got your wish after all."

Guerry finished dressing Lyón's knee, wiped off his hands, and sat back in his chair next to the tea tray. He didn't say anything.

Lyón's smile dimmed. "Guerry?"

"I was hoping maybe you'd forgotten me," he said. "It might've made things easier."
</blockquote>
Connections
The lead characters in this story are based on Ragnar and Healie from the game Dragon Warrior IV for the NES (more recently rereleased as Dragon Quest IV for various portable systems).
Related Links
Aside from a certain song which infected certain editors during the process, a different work by the Japanese fansong maker Hyadain proves other people have actually put thought into human/slime relations. The latter has English subtitles which can be toggled via the captions button.
Author's Notes
This story was inspired by a friend of mine who has shipped the characters from the source material for literal decades, and was partially created as a present for them. The actual game very heavily glosses over how, exactly, Healie becomes a human; he just shows up accompanying Ragnar in a later chapter with a troubadour's sprite with zero explanation save that he might've been traveling with humans a lot, and is henceforth ignored by the script. In this version, I opted for a decision summarized by my spouse thusly: "I can't believe he wished on the Dragon Balls for a really good dick."

While slime-Healie is more of a floating jellyfish, slime-Guerry defaults to looking a bit like a floating Glaucus atlanticus, or blue angel nudibranch. It's safe to assume the version of him in the "title screen" image has had some artistic license applied; that, or he consumed a lot of extra water and is straining a bit to look extra big for the picture.

"Guérisseau" is taken from "guérisseur" (French for "healer") with a masculine diminutive applied to the end, while Lyón is a variant Japanese transliteration of "Ryan." "Guerry" is pronounced similarly to "Gary," just a little fancier.

This story was untitled for the majority of its creation and briefly had the name "Cold Comfort" for my beta reader's original pass. "Slime of Your Life" was another possible, but ultimately rejected, title.

My first draft actually started at the gala with Lyón desperately looking for somewhere to sit. That particular story structure had the flashbacks present as stories he was telling other people at the party, with the Guerry rescue and reveal being at the very tail end of the plot; as I continued working on things I realized that the most interesting part of the story was at the tail end, and that Guerry's identity was a straightforward enough guess it didn't make sense structuring the plot around Lyón learning who he was. This way I also got to give them a lot more time around each other, because they're just cute as little buttons, really.

I hadn't originally thought to include physical therapy for Lyón's knee; the more I worked on the story the more it felt like it'd be a good way to show Guerry's resourcefulness as well as give them more excuses to be around each other all the time. Lyón's drinking problem was an idea I'd started with, then wandered away from, then walked back, since it felt like a pretty reasonable flaw for a man used to having various sources of discomfort fixed for him ASAP for several years. It also felt like another good way to show that Lyón was adventuring to live instead of the opposite way around, as your typical murder-hobo isn't going to have the time or resources for personal maintenance unless they get very lucky (or adjust their lifestyle).

Whatever game Lyón stars in is presumably either a turn-based title or some form of vaguely Zelda-like action RPG; in the case of the former I saw it very much like a Playstation or PS2 title where tool use is required to navigate an environment.

The illustrations were both created in Clip Studio Paint EX and "inked" with a Frenden pencil brush, as I enjoy the crunchy look of the lines and it keeps me from spending countless extra hours trying to make everything look crisp and perfect. I also lucked into designing characters that are extremely fun to draw, so I'll probably doodle one or both of them in the future.
Weird, the things we'd do for the people we loved. Like hop in a rusting blue bucket and drive a thousand miles to try and get them home for an emergency, so they didn't have to fly, so they didn't need to take the meds they hated so much to be calm enough to handle the plane.

Author Notes
Five Hours to Chicago came out of nowhere on a Saturday afternoon and it felt like it would find a good home in S2B2. The working title was Anxious Queer Kid Roadtrip, and I came perilously close to just keeping that as the title. Francis, the van, is a true depiction of my very first car. He was a good van and there are times I miss him (he was great to camp in, and make out in the back of). The rest stop they stop at is...actually on the wrong side of the road on I-69, just outside of Swartz Creek (which is right next door to Flint). I took some artistic liberties and moved it to the the other side of the freeway. They end up in Michigan because they drove through Canada from Vermont, which makes the trip a little shorter and much faster, having made a similar trip myself.
External Reviews
* http://harmless-one.livejournal.com/36069.html: "Five Hours to Chicago by Kimyo Tabibito is about Eliot and Riley who are on a mysterious road trip. We learn just enough about them to be very curious for more and to care. The story feels like a small moment in a much bigger one, almost like we're reading chapter 17--the calm before the storm--and chapter 18 is going to make you flip your shit. This has a lot of detail packed into a short piece."
Zack's being back—and this wasn't just a chance meeting that was nice but then over, Zack had been <i>transferred</i> and had a <i>house</i> out there and everything—meant things were in flux again, because while they never really said anything about it they'd still fucked <i>kind of a lot</i> before spiriting away to their respective futures. That didn't mean anything, but it didn't <i>not</i> mean anything. It wasn't like Isaiah had never regretted falling out of touch, sometimes for good reasons and sometimes just for <i>reasons</i>, but maybe Zack had needed the space for <i>reasons</i> of his own. Was there a polite, socially-acceptable way to ask the guy you used to go fishing with every summer whether or not he was seeing someone, and if not, did he want to fool around at any point? Was that something you could even <i>ask</i> about? Isaiah had to force himself to focus on reorganizing a display before his mental italics gave him a headache.<br /><br />

At least he didn't have to worry about boring anyone if he wanted to talk about trains.</BLOCKQUOTE>
Author's Notes
The basic conceit of Railfans came into being because every day on my commute we pass by a model train store (which shall remain nameless) that seems like it's never open, its store hours being by appointment only; their website talks of inventory liquidation. Hobby shops have a tough time of things in the age of the Internet! I figured someone who had income from other sources would be a good candidate for running an open-when-we-feel-like-it shop, and a writer who'd done well for himself (explaining the nest egg) but burned out sooner than he wanted to (explaining why he wasn't still writing) felt like a character whose head I wanted to explore.

I'm not sure what exactly Isaiah wrote, but it's probably genuinely pretty decent, making for a good beach read if nothing else. Zack isn't just being polite when he expresses interest in reading it! I intentionally played down the whole book thing because otherwise this would become A Story About Stories instead of A Story About Tiny Choo-Choo Trains.

The "Encyclopedia Britannica guy" is one Donavan Freberg, son of satirist, singer, and voice actor Stan Freberg. The commercial in question was at times inescapable on certain channels in the late 80s and early-to-mid 90s.

Rook City doesn't exist, though miserable Michigan winters certainly do.

Isaiah lives extremely frugally and tends to keep his heat low or off because he's a mutant who's fine piling on blankets and socks indoors, with one exception: his pets' habitats are always kept toasty warm. He's a cheapskate, not a bad reptile dad. I'm not entirely sure how many pets he has in addition to Scrambles the bearded dragon, but the answer is almost certainly "more than two," since he's got an entire room for his critters that probably has a computer desk or something in there, too.

* http://harmless-one.livejournal.com/36069.html: "Railfans by Iron Eater charmed the living daylights out of me. There is this slow burn that just drags you in and keeps you interested. This story has, officially, the best description of a small town sports bar I have ever read. Also, super sexy. And you're really cheering for these guys--Zack and Isaiah--because they're both so likeable and nerdy and adorable. This is another of my favorites from this issue, way high up on the list."

Summary
Kiran Joshi, a Detroit-area accountant, enjoys using his weekends to fish at his family's cabin off Lake Huron. This time, he fishes up more than he's bargained for when a merman named Xrythiykar (who is quickly nicknamed Jim) asks for his help. His agreement leads to a week he won't ever forget.

<BLOCKQUOTE>Even disregarding the need to smuggle Jim into his apartment, Kiran had no earthly idea where he was going to keep him once he got him inside the place. He couldn't very well ask for advice; who would know where to store a mythical creature in a small, one-bedroom apartment? It was, Kiran supposed, best to start with the basics. "You'll need water..."</BLOCKQUOTE>

From http://harmless-one.livejournal.com/43694.html: "in two parts. A boy accidentally ends up catching a merman and takes him home. Creature banging happens."
Author Notes
So this monstrosity of a story, man. 16,000 words. Sixteen. Thousand. Words. What the crap. This is especially impressive considering I have a 12 week old baby now in addition to my six and a half year old. I somehow managed to write 15,500 words in about a month while caring for two kids, one of whom is a newborn. No, I don't know how I managed this, either. (Except I do: I waited until the baby slept for a long stretch and wrote. This meant I got not-a-lot-of-sleep because the baby doesn't sleep long stretches until about 11 PM.)

This is another of those "I started this story for a issue but petered out for whatever reason so let's just shove it into another issue" stories, and it also continues my "let's set every story published in the first issue of the year except 2013 in Detroit!" streak. Originally this story was earmarked for Issue 51, Under the Sea, in 2014. I do have 3 other shelved WIPs, (two sequels, one original; one of the sequels is for a Yes, And issue) so we'll see if any of those pop up!

Really, the overall premise of the story was a joke I originally threw around with Kimyō Tabibito. I was initially amused by the idea of someone trying to continue going about their everyday life while a merman living in their bathtub sexually harassed them every time they tried to use the bathroom. The MERMAN MAFIA was an additional layer of absurdity I added in a few days later because the idea made me laugh until I cried. I actually showed them my paper notes in person while out to dinner with my husband and my daughter (and then we saw Guardians of the Galaxy after, best friend date ever), and they strongly encouraged me. Because they're an enabler. They even encouraged the terrible pun that this title is. Because they're an enabler. In the end, I'm very proud of this story.

The illustration is so gorgeous, it's everything I could have wanted plus some! I put out a call on Twitter asking if anyone knew of an illustrator and Iseya Misu's partner responded, then pointed me to her. We talked over email and less than 24 hours after my initial call I had this beautiful piece of art. Seriously, she made Jim even prettier than I'd imagined him (and I was picturing a true prettyboy, people!) and I love it.
* fairyninjas.wordpress.com: "An odd one where a Michigan man finds something unexpected on a regular fishing trip. This was our two-parter, and I think the best thing about it is the fact that it’s…a standard type of set-up, and I kept expecting this one thing to happen (because it always does in this sort of story)…but it never did, and the ending…I hate to call it a twist, because that makes it seem like it was really dramatic, and it wasn’t, but the quietly different path this story took was wonderful."
Conor is a 28 year old accountant who takes a trip to Grandma's house, only to find much more than he'd bargained for.

<BLOCKQUOTE>With a sigh, Conor's mother pulled the red raincoat's hood a little farther forward on his head. "Lizzie is sick too, Conor. So, what, I have a robot, a merman, and now a werewolf. Now I just gotta write that one story with a demon I have rotting on my hard drive and flesh out that one vampire story and I'll have all my supernatural being bases covered, right?

This story was borne of me having a sudden idea and tweeting Himawari and Kimyō Tabibito about it. Himawari was ... enthusiastic, to say the least. And then I fell down a hole of World of Warcraft and had to write 6,000 words over the course of like, two days to catch up and finish it in time. Himawari was then kind enough to go over it once for me. And here we are: with another weird-ass story from yours truly.

Yes, this is Little Red Riding Hood with more sex (depending on the version of LRRH you are familiar with, maybe not) and more dicks.
