This story combines a lot of my favorite types of jam. It's a story about badly scarred survivors, about the way the world keeps going in the aftermath of tragedy, about fitting together the shards of your life and finding something new and beautiful in what remains. It's got magic (a little) and politics (a lot, but distant) and a Grand Country House and freshly baked bread. It's got Ominous Dreams and Symbolic Lighting and a Hidden Library, and everyone wears really sharply tailored suits. | |||
