Invocation to Hekate is a standalone illustration by Devin Ambrosia. It originally ran in Issue 123 at https://www.shousetsubangbang.com/mirror/invocation-to-hekate/.

Summary

Three pieces of collage art paired with nine verses of text, written as an invocation to the Goddess Hekate.

Author's Notes

The invocation verses are written by me but all the names and concepts are based on Hekate's historical roles, rituals, and epithets.

I made these while staying at my formerly-Christian-Purity-Culture-still-fucked-up-in-other-ways parents' house. I did my best to keep my pagan porn supplies separate from my regular collage stuff but one night at intergenerational family dinner my brother found a random grape-sized triangle scrap on the floor and told me "I think this is your love triangle." My mom leaned over to see and there was a partial word printed on it, which she read aloud: "Sex." These are the kinds of healing synchronicities we can thank Hekate for.

While we're at it, big big thank you SD for loaning me your spare bedroom and Hekate books and collage supplies and most importantly screamflapping with me when I showed you the vagina dentata. THANK YOU! I really wanted to do such cool shit with hand writing the verses, but I ran out of time and dopamine and watercolor paper because they were all used by SD's child. If it wasn't clear by all the staying with people mentions, I am indeed at a crossroads ya'll. I hope The Goddess is satisfied with this offering and helps me find a home and a way to pay for said home. My love is unconditional, of course, because she demands no less.
