Summary

From aconfusedbird.tumblr.com: "About a fellow who hires and hacks a sex android to make it look like he’s in a relationship without actually being in a relationship."

Lewis picked Cam up in the Personal Services annex of The Mercantile.

"Hey," he said. "I'm Lewis."

The young man stood and smiled. "Cam." Their screens, Lewis knew, were running an interchange right now. He was about to thumb his on to check, but Cam put out his hand as though this were a social meeting, and Lewis shook it out of uncomfortable reflex.

External Reviews

• pinboard.in: " Lewis needs to raise his Social score to land his dream job, so he starts fake-dating android Cam. I really liked this for the twist on the fake dating trope and the world building elements. Loved how the theme of storytelling, crucial for Lewis and Cam's personal and professional lives, binds the plot threads together (and turns the mirror back on the reader a bit too)."
