Inspiration & Themes
This story draws motifs from the works of Lewis Carroll owing both characters' names to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and "The Jabberwock."
"Jabberwock" also draws inspiration from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick, specifically the famous Voigt-Kampff test. Where in Dick's novel, the test is used to distinguish androids from humans by noting lacking emotional or empathetic response, "Jabberwock" depicts a similar test as a means of distinguishing successfully brainwashed child soldiers from their peers.
Related Media
“Jabberwock” is not connected to any other works in Shousetsu Bang*Bang’s repertoire. However, alternate versions of Alexei and the Jabberwock will be featured in an upcoming issue of Passion Potluck in idolkilling’s comic “Flowers from Venus.”
